A review of the top 10 casinos and hotels in Las Vegas weighted heavily on their poker room quality. A good read for any potential Las Vegas tourist who wants a quick taste of The Strip before sitting down at the tables.

1. The Bellagio

The Bellagio is the most played casino in Las Vegas and is the choice casino for pros such as Jennifer Harman
Daniel Negreanu
& Chip Reese. The Bellagio
other than being an AAA 5-diamond hotel and casino
has a wide range of games
a great mix of people and an even greater atmosphere. The Bellagio is known for its high stakes with limit hold’em starting at $4/8. Away from the poker tables and you have some great attractions such as the wonderful and famous musical fountains and botanical gardens.

2. Caesars

Free drinks and automatic shufflers? What more could you want! Caesars Palace offers a wide range of poker variations from limit holdem to omaha hi/lo. The luxury casino and hotel offers attractions such as an exotic car show room
two free and fantastic fountain shows
a nightclub and a shuttle to and from the hotel. The online casino has been featured in over a dozen films and is to appear in the new release
“Iron Man”.

3. The Wynn

The brand spanking new casino inRoyal Vegas is sure to attract all sorts of poker players to its luxury suite. Oddly enough
The Wynn is the first casino to hold a luxury car dealership on the 215 acres of space that it covers. The games at The Wynn are similar to that played at The Ballagio
with highly skilled dealers and automatic card shufflers. Anything goes here
if it’s in demand then it will be played; it’s not uncommon to come across a 6 man $20/$40 Chinese poker game!

4. The Mirage

The wide variety of games and limits at The Mirage is what appeals to most. This is one of the only casinos where you will see less popular variations of poker
such as Omaha
being played at high stakes. The resort has a great exotic theme to it
with a huge Atrium at the entrance to the casino containing palm trees and water features to mention a few. There is also an artificial volcano that erupts during the evening which rivals the spectacular views at The Bellagio fountains.

5. The Venetian

The Venetian boasts the largest poker resort in all of America and even contains its own shopping mall. The Venetian offers over 122 online casino games and a sports lounge. At The Venetian you won’t have to leave the resort
there are 17 restaurants and attractions that would keep you more than busy while you’re not at the tables.

6. MGM Grand

The MGM Grand holds one of the largest poker rooms in Las Vegas and is one of the places seen to play a “kill blind”
similar to a “straddle” in no limit hold’em. If you are looking to play poker to make a killing while on holiday in Las Vegas then this is the poker room for you; as the poker room is situated near the entrance and so fish are constantly passing by. There are plenty of exciting attractions at The Grand including a glass walled lion habitat which has several viewings a day!

7. Binions

Binions is renowned as being the birth place of the World Series of Poker. The poker room contains over 70 poker tables with a featured table to use as the final table for their daily tournaments. Binions casino and hotel is marked with years of history after opening in 1951. Binions is also referred to as “The Horseshoe” which was the brand name used for many other casino properties.

8. Rio All-Suite

This is the home to the modern day World Series of Poker
which is held in the Rio’s convention room rather than the poker room. Some say the resort is better known for its delicious 5 themed buffet meal than it is for poker; however the poker room is certainly more than a
dequate for all types of poker player.

9. The Orleans

Situated far from the main strip in Las Vegas
The Orleans is great for those who want to play lower limit variations of poker such as Omaha. They even have tournaments for any poker players bankroll including a daily $40 Omaha Hi/Lo game. The Orleans is not the destination for European and Asian tourists but more for the Las Vegas locals and long term residents making the atmosphere far more low key.

10. The Palms

The Palms has had its name publicized recently after being home for the popular show
Celebrity Poker Showdown. The poker room is spread over 2 separate rooms with just 10 tables and dwindles in comparison with some of the other casinos in Las Vegas. One room is dedicated to limit and the other to no limit making the variations of poker very limited. The Palms redeems some of its poker credibility with a progressive jackpot for hands such as a straight flush or four of a kind.

So, you have decided that you want to play poker Online, and your hunt for the perfect site has begun. But alas, there are literally hundreds of poker sites on the Internet. How do you discriminate between all of these available sites, to find that desired site ? There are several key criteria that you should be aware of, in your quest to find the poker site that is perfect for you. Understanding these criteria, and being able to use them as a basis for comparison, will significantly simplify your selection process:

Free Poker Chips Online- If you are looking to play online poker for pure recreation, and not for money, ensure that the site you are interested in accommodates “free” players. Most online poker sites do cater to free players.

Software Download vs. Web-based – Most, if not all, online poker sites require you to download their poker client software onto your computer system to run. If you are adverse to downloading such software onto your system, then you might want to check to see if the poker site alternatively has a web-based poker interface, which allows you to play poker on the site from within your browser. Software installs run the potential risk of viruses and/or adware being loaded onto your system (although most of the reputable firms would never do that), but software installs on your computer generally run a lot faster than web-based sessions. Software installations harness the power of your local PC’s CPU, whereas web-based interfaces rely on downloading any screen real estate updates over the Internet during play. This can be slow, particularly, if you are running over a slow internet connection (e.g., a dialup line). Hence, if you are after speed, select local software installations; if you are concerned about your computer’s safety or cannot afford the disk space used by a software installation, select a web-based poker site.

Methods of Deposit/Withdrawal – If you are planning to play poker for money over the Internet, it is very important to consider the methods of deposit and withdrawal that a poker site supports. Many of these sites permit major credit cards to be used, which seem to be the universal deposit mechanism of choice. Others permit the use of bank transfer, ACH transfer, checks, and wire transfer from banks. Most poker sites also support some form of 3rd party eWallets, which provide an intermediary between banking institutions and the poker site itself. The main criteria to look at are: 1) What methods of deposit/withdrawal are supported by the poker site, and how many of these methods are supported by the locale that you live in ?; 2) Is it legal to fund/withdraw to/from a poker site, from the jurisdiction that you are playing in ?; 3) What are the fees associated with the 3rd party eWallet companies that you are able to use, and how reliable are they (this latter question can be researched on some of the poker message forum boards) ?

Locale Restrictions – Some poker sites restrict the playing for money (and even free play sometimes), based on your locale, and the laws governing gambling in your locale. You should check with the laws of your local jurisdiction and check with the poker site, to see if there are any imposed restrictions on play, based on your locale.

Support – You should definitely look at the methods of support that a poker site offers. Poker sites generally provide one (or more) methods of support that include: telephone support, fax support, Email support, and live chat support. The more of these that a poker site offers, the better. For telephone support, check and see if the poker site offers toll-free support from your playing jurisdiction or not.

Game Variety – Depending on your level of poker playing expertise and your interest in variety, it is important to determine which game types the poker site supports. Almost all of the sites offer Texas Holdem, but depending on your level of interest, you should check to see if they offer games like Five and Seven Card Stud, Omaha Poker (and all of its variations), Blackjack (not poker, but often included as a game option), Stud (and its variations), Draw poker, Tournament support, and limit and pot limit games. Tournaments in particular are very popular with online poker sites, and some site tournaments offer very large prize pools.

Bonuses – Most, but not all, of the poker sites offer some form of bonus to the player, when you initially sign up with the site. Each site’s bonus is somewhat different, but of the one’s that offer first time bonus, it is usually predicated on a minimum initial deposit. Many bonuses are also calculated based on the amount of money deposited and spent on the site. Additionally, many sites offer reload bonuses, which are bonuses that are offered to existing customers, beyond their initial deposit bonus, and as an incentive to keep you as a customer.

Graphics and Useability – This is a very important consideration. Every poker site has a different look and feel to it. If you are going to be playing poker for money, it is important that you feel comfortable with the screen graphics and your ability to navigate (via mouse or keyboard clicks) through the poker program. If you feel uncomfortable at all with the poker site, you should definitely not consider playing at it for money. You should always test a poker site out in “free” mode first, before actually considering it for real-money wagering.

Game Features – You should always consider the game features that are available with a given poker site. Game features such as hand history, multiple simultaneous playing windows, player notes, audible and visual indicators, player statistics, connection status indicator, player chat, turbo games, and screen options should always be considered.

Rake – Rake is the amount of the pot that the poker site takes (as part of its fee for doing business), from each hand. You should always be aware of how much rake a poker site takes (compared to another site). Poker sites usually use a Weighted Contribution rake method or an Average Contribution method, when calculating rake. Obviously, the lower the rake, the more money you will take home on hand wins, but this criteria by itself should not dictate which poker site you use, since all of the above factors need to be taken into consideration as well. In summary, the aforementioned criteria should always be used, when deciding which Poker site is best for you. Depending on your preferences, some of these criteria should be given more weight than others. Happy Poker site hunting !!

Casino Holdem from World Match
World Match, the online casino software provider and developer, has released a new and exciting online casino poker game. The new game is called Casino Holdem. The game is based on the very popular Texas Holdem poker game, however, instead of poker players playing against each other, they are playing against the online casino, and not against the other players. World Match has made sure to design the game area to make it clear to players so that they can easily spot winning combinations. The game has cards that are bigger than the normal cards that are used in Texas Holdem online poker games, and also have 3D graphics to enhance the playing experience. The 3D effects add a touch of realism, and give players more of the feel of an actual land based poker room. Players also get the chance to win more with the AA Bonus Card Feature that gives players the chance to win large sums of money from the online casino Casino Holdem poker game. This bonus feature offers many possible combinations, making each hand more exciting and thereby offering more ways to win. The game comes with two variations from which players can choose. There is the Pro version and the Privee version. The two versions differ in that they offer different betting limits for both the minimum and maximum wagers allowed. The Casino Holdem onlien poker game is somewhat of a mixture between Texas Holdem and various online casino slot games. These wagering limits will different from online casino to online casino depending on the betting limits offered at the casino or online poker site. These games can already be found at online casinos that are operated by the World Match online casino software provider. For those players who wish to try a new online poker experience, Casino Holdem is certainly worth trying. If a dealer has decided against what a poker player wants, the player can ask the dealer about his decision but never with personal hostility. It cannot be helped that the dealers might commit mistakes and errors, and the players can always bring this to the attention of the dealer. But the player should never use any foul language or aggressive behavior in front of the dealer when discussing the decision. Likewise, the dealers themselves should treat the poker players equally and implement the poker tournaments rules constantly, not giving deference to a poker player over the others. The dealers must never put a stake on a poker players hands and financial outcome. This is strictly prohibited as this promotes biased and prejudiced treatment, making it an unfair fight for the other players. To avoid controversy and further squabbles, the poker players and the dealers must report any inappropriate behavior at the poker table to a supervisor. The Poker Players and the Management The poker players who have joined in the poker tournament should always respect the management and should always employ a professional manner towards the management because the management will always extend the same courtesy towards its players. There will be times when a decision the management has made might not work with what a poker player wants. The decision will be discussed by the management and the poker player, but the player should refrain from making any denigrating remarks during the poker tournament about the management until an official report has been filed to the poker tournament director or at least to his representative. A poker player can definitely question a decision the management has made, but this should be done in a very professional manner and without any personal hostility towards the management. The complaint should be submitted and should only be discussed with the appropriate supervisor or manager, but never in front of other poker players. Likewise, no foul language should be used.

FTP Subsidiary, Orinic Limited, Withdraws Application with AGCC
April 25 2012, Chad Holloway Related Articles New Full Tilt Limited” Incorporated in Ireland Black Friday Chronicles: Looking Back One Year Later The Black Friday Timeline: One Year Without Online Poker Share It Tags Alderney Gambling Control Commission, Full Tilt Poker, Groupe Bernard Tapie, Online Poker, PokerStars Print On Wednesday, just one day after Groupe Bernard Tapie (GBT) announced that its long-negotiated deal to acquire Full Tilt Poker had fallen through, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission released a statement that FTP subsidiary Orinic Limited had withdrawn its request for a Category 2 gaming license. According to the statement: In the matter of an application by Orinic Limited for a Category 2 eGambling licence TAKE NOTICE that Orinic Limited has, pursuant to Regulation 28(1) of the Alderney eGambling Regulations, 2009, withdrawn its application dated 23rd March, 2012 for a Category 2 eGambling licence. Accordingly the public hearing scheduled to take place on Thursday 3rd May, 2012 at the Braye Beach Hotel, Alderney will not now take place. The announcement does not come as a surprise considering GBT has exited the running for the online site. This has fueled speculation that PokerStars is attempting to acquire Full Tilt Poker, though there has been no confirmation. However, Eric Hollreiser, head of corporate communications for PokerStars, posted the following comment on the PokerStars Blog on Tuesday: We’ve had a lot of inquiries and there’s lots of speculation on the forums, so I wanted to address the PokerStars chatter. As you know, PokerStars is in settlement discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice. As such settlement discussions are always confidential, we are unable to comment on rumors. Weve used the word epic before during this season to describe the many long heads up battles weve seen, but on Saturday, we use it to describe the sheer quality of the poker on show. Many here have commented how they believe that the heads up battle here was the best of the season. There were five-bet jams preflop, check-raise river bluffs, three-bet three street bluffs, and brave all-in river calls with marginal hands. The most memorable hand from the many great hands that were played happened when Kitai open with and called when Chen three-bet to 900,000 with . Chen led for 615,000 on the flop and Kitai called, as he did when he was faced with a 1,480,000 bet on the turn. The fell on the river and Chen moved all in for his remaining 11,190,000. Kitai was covered and called all in after tanking for three minutes. The consensus was that he thought king-high was good enough and he may well have called if the river bricked. With this win, Kitai has become the fifth player to complete poker’s Triple Crown. Kitai said on his victory, I feel really great, its amazing. I never expected to beat this field. 2012 PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Berlin Results Place Player Prize 1 Davidi Kitai 712,000 2 Andrew Chen 613,000 3 Andr Morath 290,000 4 Mario Puccini 220,000 5 Bahadir Kilickeser 172,000 6 Csar Garca 133,000 7 Marc Wright 97,000 8 Pratyush Buddiga 72,000 Play was aggressive from the beginning of the day and thanks to the card-up broadcast on EPT Live, it was apparent that the players’ range was wide, as was the three-bet range. The first elimination occurred when Bahadir Kilickeser three-bet Pratyush Buddiga with . No one was expecting Kilickeser to call when faced with a four-bet all-in, but he did and Buddiga tabled the dominating , which was powerless to stop a cruel ten that appeared on the turn, eliminating Buddiga. By the time Marc Wright was ousted in seventh, Kitai had already proved to all those watching what an incredible talent he was, by making the correct decisions in every single spot. Wright put him a difficult place when he raised all in on the turn of a board with for a double gutshot straight draw. Kitai tanked for more than five minutes before making the call with for top pair. It held and Kitai was clear at the top with nearly twice as many chips as his closest competitor. Mario Puccini hadn’t been involved in many confrontations up until that point but he really stamped his mark on the final table, starting when he eliminated Csar Garca in a classic race that saw Puccinis pocket queens hold against Garcas ace-king. Both Puccini and Chen were eating into Kitais lead and it was the latter who took over top spot when he eliminated Kilickeser. Chen raised on the button, Kilickeser defended from the big blind with and the flop fell . Kilickeser check-raised all in with bottom pair, but Chen had flopped top pair with . Chen’s hand held and Kilickeser was eliminated. Andr Morath hadnt played many hands and when he did enter a pot, his opponents ran for the hills since he kept showing down monsters. He liked to defend his big blind with almost any two cards and that saw a lot of his chips migrate over to his three opponents stacks. He mustve been over the moon when Puccini busted next. Puccini, who was the dominant player for some of the day, saw the wheels come off his tournament. He went from chip leader to out in fourth in less than one level. He was raised off pots, caught bluffing and doubled up Morath before his final hand. He decided to make a stand with and three-bet all in over the top of Kitais open. Kitai had opened with less than stellar cards numerous times but this time he had in the hole. He made the instant call and a safe board was revealed in front of them. Morath went back to leaking chips to the point where he felt he had to make a stand. He looked down at in the big blind and three-bet all-in after Chen raised from the button. Chen called with the dominating and the board belonged to him. The two remaining players went on a dinner break at this juncture and agreed a deal based on their chip counts. Chen locked up 613,000 and Kitai 632,000 with the eventual winner walking away with an extra 80,000.

Pius Heinz wins 2011 WSOP
The 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event title has finally been claimed. Pius Heinz, a 22-year-old professional poker player from Cologne, Germany, took the title holding Ace-King against Martin Staszko’s Ten-Seven. Neither hand improved and Heinz took home $8.7 million with ace-high. Not only was Heinz the first German to win the Main, he was the first to sit at the final table. Over 6800 players from 85 different nations started the event over 13 days, with a prize pool of $64,540,858. The top 693 cashed and the tournament broke, as usual, over a period of five months between the body of the event and the final table, the “November Nine.” Notably, third-place finisher Ben Lamb was looking to culminate a sick, sick run at the WSOP. He place in five consecutive tournaments, making the final table of four of them, and winning one of them. This unheard-of streak locked him up solidly for the WSOP Player of the Year title. For the first time, the Main Event was broadcast (almost) live. There was a delay of several minutes to limit the ability of players to exploit the private pocket card cameras. Although this could potentially allow players to learn about very recent hands during breaks, creating a unique angle on the most important final table of the year. The continuing high turnout of the WSOP is taken as proof that the allure of poker continues throughout the world despite a federal crackdown against online poker. # Player Earnings Country 1 Pius Heinz $8,715,638 Germany 2 Martin Staszko $5,433,086 Czech Republic 3 Ben Lamb $4,021,138 United States 4 Matt Giannetti $3,012,700 United States 5 Phil Collins $2,269,599 United States 6 Eoghan O’Dea $1,720,831 Ireland 7 Bob Bounahra $1,314,097 Belize 8 Anton Makiieveskyi $1,010,015 Ukraine 9 Sam Holden $782,115 United Kingdom Copyright 2012 Ace Nine, LLC Legal | Contact Us | Site Map
